KPMG FA has a wealth of experience in the European research sphere, with expert knowledge as Communication and Dissemination Work Package Leads and as Coordinators of two H2020 projects. KPMG FA is an innovative, multidisciplinary consultancy operating within KPMG Ireland specialising in planning and economic development consultancy, socio-economic research underpinned by data analytics, and strategic spatial planning (national, regional and local level/urban and rural planning). Established by Prof. William Hynes after many years of academic and practical experience in the fields of economic development, planning and evidence-based policy development, KPMG FA has amassed a large multidisciplinary staff and has emerged as an innovative and fresh-thinking consultancy.
The company deals with a wide range of comprehensive and integrated strategic planning services and associated projects that require a strategic or ‘forward-planning’ approach. Significantly, KPMG FA is actively engaged in European research and development, presently participating in multiple European Commission H2020 projects investigating a diverse range of topics including urban resilience, sustainability, resource efficiency, post crisis recovery, and overall security. Meet Our Team
Prof. William Hynes
Managing Director of KPMG Future Analytics has the overall responsibility for the coordination and project management of KPMG FA’s broad portfolio of projects. William is a chartered spatial planner and chartered surveyor and has significant experience in academia and commercial roles. William is one of Ireland’s most successful private sector researchers within the Seventh Framework Programme (Secure Societies strand) and has key experience in both Project Coordination and Work Package/Task leadership and delivery. Prior to establishing KPMG FA, William was central to the management of the Gold-standard Regional and Urban Planning postgraduate programme at the Department of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy, University College Dublin, where he remains a Visiting Lecturer. William is also a Visiting Lecturer in Freiburg University, Germany. William coordinated HARMONISE and RESILENS (FP7 & H2020 projects respectively) that focussed on developing tools for urban and critical infrastructure resilience. William also provides strategic research direction across KPMG FA’s European and national projects. He is a member of the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Expert Group on national and regional population projections, and he was also the Irish Nominee to the European Union (EU) 7th Research and Development Framework (2007-2013) under the Thematic Area of Mass Transportation and Security.
Ms. Anna Yankulova
With over 8 years of professional experience, she uses her particular skillset and background to deliver high-quality results across KPMG FA’s European Horizon 2020 Projects portfolio on Security Standardisation, Disaster Risk Management, CBRNe, Critical Infrastructure Resilience, Smart Cities, Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Some of Anna’s main areas of expertise include conducting research, utilising a full range of information sources to collect, record, analyse and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data to produce evidence-based, high-quality reports; carrying out socio-economic assessments, exploitation and market penetration strategies for Horizon 2020 project results; analysing social and economic factors to boost research outcomes in the fields of sustainable development, resilient infrastructure and security; developing plans and guidelines for project partners to outline research procedures to be followed, and oversees financial reporting of funded Horizon 2020 projects. Anna has extensive experience in impact assessments, financial analysis, business development and has managed and been part of a large portfolio of engagements in Switzerland and Italy. Anna holds a Masters’ Degree in International Accounting (University of Turin), a Graduate Diploma in Business Research (University College Dublin) and a PRINCE 2 Practitioner Certification in Project Management.
